Frequently asked questions
ABOUT SNORING
1. Snoring: is it only an unpleasant trouble?
Jokes about snoring are quite common. A person usually does not notice that he/she snores but it causes trouble for the others sleeping in the same room. It is already proved most often that snoring is a serious health disorder.
2. What are the types of snoring?
There are two types of snoring: obstructive (peripheral) and central. Over 90 % of all cases are obstructive snoring.
3. What danger does snoring cause?
During one’s sleep the muscles of nasopharynx and palate relax, upper respiratory tracts get narrow or close completely, normal breathing is disturbed. At intervals breathing stops completely. Then blood gets less oxygen, brain, heart and other organs get short of oxygen, their activity is disturbed and the person wakes up. This repeats dozens of times a night. The main problem is that snoring undoubtedly disturbs the person’s sleep and good rest, reduces capacity for work, increases arterial blood pressure, causes disorders of heart rhythm, memory and attention, even obesity. All this is related to night deaths, especially those of heart attacks, paralytic strokes, and stopping of the heart.
4. Who snores more often?
24 % of all the population snore. Older men, especially overweight, smoking and consuming alcohol snore almost twice as often as the others.
5. How is snoring treated?
There are no effective medicaments for snoring treatment. Most of the medicines and aerosols offered make breathing easier only for a short time, i.e. they do not eliminate the cause of snoring. Obstructive snoring, especially in its initial stage, can be effectively cured with the help of EXTRA-LOR device. It strengthens muscles of nasopharynx and palate, eliminates the cause of snoring and returns good rest to the person and his/her family.
